One of my favorite things after going to the fabric store is to "Fondle the Fabric". This is a term my quilting buddies and I came up with during girls day out or going to a retreat. Just the joy in the feel of good cotton fabric, the colors and designs are a treat for my eyes, the creativity that stars in my brain at that moment. There is nothing quite as satisfying. Sometimes the simplest fabrics create the most beautiful results.
Once the fabrics are chosen, it's time to measure, cut, and prepare the pieces. Taking a little extra care during this step helps everything fit together beautifully. It's exciting to watch a quilting project begin to take shape! The creation of the rotary cutter and mat make this job much easier.
This is where all those beautiful fabric pieces start coming together! Once the quilt top is ready, the layers are arranged and prepared for quilting. It's wonderful watching a collection of fabrics turn into something special. I love to modify my quilts and make them larger, smaller, with three borders instead of two. Thats the beauty of the piecing.
The finishing touches are what make a quilt truly special! From stitching the layers together to adding the final binding, every little detail brings the project closer to completion. Adding the final finishing touch is a label to identify who, what, when, and where.There's nothing quite like seeing a beautiful quilt finished and ready to enjoy!
